Thesis Title Examples for BSBA and HRM Students 2026: 40 Titles with Research Questions

A business thesis title fails for one of two reasons: the respondents cannot be reached in a semester, or the two variables have no plausible mechanism connecting them. The forty titles below are built to survive both tests. Each carries the research question it answers and the respondent group it needs, and each is written with a bracketed locale you replace, because a title without a place is the version panels send back.

How to use this list

Do not take a title as it stands. Take the pair, title and question, and do three things to it.

  1. Put your own locale in. One city, one municipality, one district, one company. The narrower, the more defensible the sampling becomes.
  2. Check that you can reach the respondents. Employees need management permission; customers need the establishment’s consent; owners need to be willing to discuss their finances. Confirm before you commit.
  3. Check whether anyone in your department has done it. Departmental shelves are the real competition, not the internet.

Every title uses the word “level” or “relationship” deliberately. Those words commit you to a measurable variable and a statistical test, which is what makes a title approvable rather than merely interesting.

Narrowing a title until it is approvable

A draft title written three times on a sheet, each version shorter and more specific than the last
Narrow the population, then the locale, then the period. Each pass makes the sampling easier to defend.

Most rejected business titles are rejected for scope rather than topic. The sequence that fixes them is always the same.

Version Problem
The Effect of Social Media on Business No population, no locale, no measurable variable, and “effect” claims causation
Social Media Marketing and Sales of Businesses in the Philippines Population unreachable; sales data is confidential
Social Media Marketing Practices and Customer Purchase Intention Among Micro and Small Enterprises in [City] Approvable: named population, named locale, two measurable variables, no causal claim

Note the third change in particular. Sales figures are rarely obtainable from a Philippine micro-enterprise, and a title promising them commits you to data you will not get. Purchase intention is measurable with a questionnaire, which is why the approvable version uses it. The four specific faults that get a title returned, and how to diagnose which one yours has, are set out in the piece on getting a rejected title approved.

From title to Chapter 1

Once a title is approved, three things follow quickly and in this order. The general statement of the problem mirrors the title exactly, and the specific questions follow the standard five-question shape; a BSBA worked example is in the piece on statement of the problem examples. The hypotheses follow from the relationship questions, and four business-specific worked sets are in the piece on BSBA hypotheses and variables. The theory that explains why the two variables should relate comes next, and the business options are set out in the theoretical framework examples by course.

Before any of that, decide whether your study is quantitative at all; several of the titles above could be run either way, and the trade-off in time and respondents is set out in the piece on quantitative versus qualitative. And once the variables are fixed, the test each question needs is decided in the piece on statistical treatment of data.

Take an approved title into a drafted Chapter 1

The gap between an approved title and a written first chapter is where most business groups lose a month. Tesify takes the title and the variables and drafts the general statement, the specific questions and the background structure with the alignment already in place, so the version you bring to your adviser is something to correct rather than something to invent. The topic, the data and the argument stay yours.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a good BSBA thesis title?

Two measurable variables, a named population, a named locale, and no causal claim. If the title contains “effect of” and the design is a survey, the title is promising more than the method can deliver.

How many respondents does a business thesis need?

It depends on the population you declare and the formula your department uses. What matters at the title stage is whether the population is countable and reachable at all; a title aimed at “all consumers” has no sampling frame.

Can I use a real company’s name in my title?

Only with written permission, and many companies grant access on condition of anonymity. Where that is the case, write “a selected [industry] establishment in [city]” and keep the name out of the whole manuscript.

Can I get sales or financial data from a small business?

Usually not, and a title that depends on it is a title that will stall. Use perceived performance, reported practice or customer-side variables instead, all of which a questionnaire can measure.

Is HRM a separate course from BSBA?

In many Philippine institutions human resource management is a major within BSBA, and the thesis requirements are the same. The titles under the HRM heading above suit either arrangement.

Do I need permission to survey employees?

Yes. Employee surveys need management approval before you approach anyone, and getting it in writing protects both you and your respondents. Build the waiting time into your timeline.

Can two groups in the same class use the same topic?

Departments differ, but most require different locales or different respondent groups at minimum. Check with your research coordinator before both groups invest in the same instrument.

How specific should the locale be?

As specific as your sampling frame. If your list comes from one city’s business permits office, the locale is that city. If it comes from one barangay, say the barangay.

Should the title include the year?

Only if your manual asks for it. Many Philippine business theses name the academic year or calendar year of data collection, which also helps fix the scope.

What if my adviser says my title has been done before?

Ask to see the earlier thesis. Most of the time the earlier study used a different locale, a different respondent group or a different dimension, and naming that difference in your background is enough to proceed.
